Scholarships

Western Vista FCU will award a minimum of two $500 scholarships each year to a graduating senior or college students age 17 – 24, who have been a member in good standing at WVFCU for at least 6 months prior to the application.

One recipient will be chosen from membership at the Cheyenne community, and one from the Casper community, if there are qualified applicants from each community.

Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of information submitted on an application, including academic achievement, school and community involvement, work experience, education and career goals, and a short essay.

Eligibility Requirements
1 The applicant must be a current member of Western Vista Federal Credit Union, with a share savings account held in their own name for at least 6 months.
2 The applicant must be registered, or planning to register, as a full time student in an accredited college, university, or technical school.
3 The applicant must be a graduating senior or college student age 17 – 24.
4 All applicants must complete an Application (available here) or at each branch.

Application
Completed application form, together with a transcript of high school or college grades (if applicable), most recent ACT scores, and a list of extracurricular activities and achievements, should be sent to:

Applications must be received by the Scholarship Committee by April 15th of each year to be considered.

Administration
Scholarship applications shall be judged by a committee appointed by the Western Vista Board of Directors. Judging will be based on the following factors:

1. 25%------Financial Need
2. 25%------Academics
3. 25%------Extracurricular Activities and Other Achievements
4. 25%------Written Essay

Presentation of Award
The Scholarship Committee will select the winners anonymously.

Scholarship awards will be announced as soon after application deadline as possible. If the recipient is a high school graduate, whenever possible a Credit Union representative will award the scholarship at the appropriate high school awards presentation. All applicants will be notified of the final results of the judging.

Checks will be made payable to the college of choice upon receipt of proof of enrollment from the college.
